The ECB reference rate for the most recent working day, shown with its date on every result. It is a mid-market figure, the midpoint between buying and selling, at which no bank or exchange office actually deals. Treat the result as the benchmark against which to judge an offer, not as the amount that will land in your account.

Because it is derived rather than published. A pound to franc result is one euro reference rate divided by another, and two sites can round at different steps or use fixes from different days. The difference normally shows up in the third or fourth decimal: immaterial on a holiday budget, worth checking on a large transfer.
